Every welding code specify that the sample weld for Welder Qualification Record (WQR), is witnessed by a qualified supervisors, welding inspectors, AICIP inspectors, Metallurgist and Mechanical Engineers and the records retained for future reference.

These WQR's are held current for 6 months unless their are NDT reports that are available to support that the welder is still current and welding with the required performance level.

A Welder Qualification Record (WQR) is required for each welding process the welder uses. 

A Welder Qualification Record (WQR) is not transfer across welding processes.

All Welder Qualification Record (WQR) tests are processed by an independent NATA laboratory of which LMATS is one, copies of these Welder Qualification Record (WQR) records permanently.

LMATS are members of Weld Australia (WTIA), are an approved testing center for the Australian Welder Certification Register (AWCR).

The  LMATS  Welder Qualification Test staff are highly qualified with:

  • Engineering Tradesperson Fabricator
  • Certificate IV TAE
  • AS2214 Welding Supervisor
  • AS1796 Certificate 10 Welding Supervisor
  • AWCR Approved Examine
  • International Welding Engineer
