Compression test

A compression test is one of the mechanical (strength) tests performed on materials. The compression test determines material behaviour under compressive or crushing load. The test specimen or test item is compressed and deformation at various loads is recorded on conventional graph paper or charts or computerised data acquisition.

This test provides information such as Proof load, 0.1%, 0.2%, 0.5% proof stress, Yield strength, elastic limit, proportional limit, compressive strength or force, Elongation, Reduction of area, modulus of elasticity, etc.
