Concrete hardness and strength test are performed using non destructive method such as Schmidz hammer or laboratory based destructive test.

The Schmidt rebound hammer is a surface hardness tester. The Schmidt hammer works on the principle of rebound due to elastic effect.

Our expert engineers and technicians use this rapid and cost-effective technique to evaluate the integrity of concrete elements non-destructively.

Applications:

  • Assessing concrete quality in existing structures

  • Evaluating strength variations in different sections

  • Ensuring structural safety in buildings, bridges, and tunnels

  • Supporting renovation and restoration projects

Operation and interpretation of this technique requires expertise, as it does have limitations particuarly depending on the surface condition and age of the concrete. More accurate and conclusive methods such as compressive strength testing on extracted concrete cores are available. Contact LMATS for more information.

Concrete cover measurement is performed by using various non destructive tests such as GPR (ground penetrating radar), electromagnetic test, ultrasonic and radiography.

LMATS have a JRC (Japan Radio Co., Ltd) GPR model NJJ-95B and can also utilise Hilti ferroscan PS200 if required by the client.

Concrete NDT, Concrete Materials Testing, Concrete Strength Testing, Concrete Testing, Concrete Testing Concrete Quality Assurance.

Various tests are performed on concrete slab for measuring concrete slab thickness, reinforcing bars distribution, size and depth, concrete cover thickness, concrete hardness and strength, etc. Typical applications are

  • Ceiling analysis to detect frequency and position of ligatures in support beams.
  • Wall or pillar analysis for ligature position and depth.
  • Non-Destructive testing for construction walls.
  • Reinforcing mesh positioning prior to drilling.
  • Slab-on-grade analysis, (not possible with X-Ray)
  • Services like Electrical and Refrigeration line detection for supermarkets prior to concrete cutting.
  • Assist with establishing load bearing capacity in suspended slabs.
  • Bridge deck analysis.
  • Quality assurance
